MUSIC BOX
Music Box sessions are a perfect introduction to baby music.
The groups are small, and the sessions are led by Kathryn Crosby, a qualified and experienced music teacher specialising in Early Years. All baby classes are well planned and developed specifically for each age group
CLASSES
Classes are 45 minutes long and are packed with a range of exciting sensory experiences to engage and stimulate you and your baby.
(See Class Times for days and times of classes)
For the benefit of the children, classes generally follow the same format each week. Although there are always new and exciting activities introduced, the babies need a good amount of repetition to learn and feel happy.
BABY CLASSES
The class will begin with a hello song and welcome to each child. Then there are lots of games and songs from the safety of the parent's arms and laps. Babies are bounced, tickled, swung, tipped upside down, their tummies & backs are played as drums, they are flown up high, and they are cuddled and snuggled! There are all sorts of puppets to meet, ribbons and streamers to wave, things to scrunch and swish and bubbles to catch. Music Box has a wonderful array of top quality percussion instruments from all over the world to be explored. Many sensory props are used to stimulate your babies senses. A lovely warm-down follows after all the fun, and then we sing goodbye.
PRE SCHOOL CLASSES
For children in the pre school groups, many musical activities and concepts are introduced. The sessions remain fun and active, but become more structured and focused on a range of musical skills. Children gain increased control over their ability to play percussion. They are also ready to eplore their own expressive and creative abilities through musical stories, games and movement. This age group are learning about each other, devloping social skills, and improving their listening and sharing.
WHY BABY MUSIC?
Babies love music. Music Box sessions build on their natural desire to enjoy music, and the babies soak up the rhythms and sounds through the physical interactions with their parents.
Young babies need lots of cuddles, rocking and repetition, so the songs and activities are carefully chosen and graded to ease the baby into the wonderful world of sharing music.
Music sessions give the parent and baby a time to interact and communicate ina unique way that can follow through the rest of their week together.
