KATHRYN CROSBY B.Ed. MISP. IPTI. RCYP2
Kathryn is a qualified and very experienced baby massage instructor having taught over 2000 parents and babies how to enjoy massage.
She also holds well recognised qualifications in Baby yoga, Children’s yoga and Massage in Schools.
For 12 years she worked as a qualified teacher in special schools, teaching music, dance and drama to children with special needs.
Since 1989 she has also worked as a music in education consultant for local authorities around the country and the education advisory service, training teachers in music and creativity.
Most of her ideas and experience however, come from being a mum to 3 young children.
BABY MASSAGE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Kathryn is a fully qualified and very experienced Baby Massage Instructor. She studied Baby Massage at the Active Birth Centre in London under Peter Walker in 1999 and her qualification is well respected in the profession, being recognised by IPTI ( Independent Professional Therapists International)
Since then she has been running regular classes for parents and babies and has trained close to 2 thousand parents in the art of baby massage to date!
Kathryn is a well known and respected instructor and was a key speaker at the IAIM (International Association for Infant Massage) conference. She was invited to present workshops on the role of touch and creativity at the Play Therapy World Conference and has been published in many publications including Junior Magazine, The SLD Experience, and In Touch magazine.
St Richards Hospital in Chichester uses Kathryn to present baby massage demonstrations to ante-natal groups, and health visitors and midwives at the hospital. She also works regularly with health visitors in the local community providing post natal advice on baby massage and baby yoga.
Kathryn runs two of the ten sessions on the very popular Baby Experience Course run by the Westgate Centre in Chichester and also runs their baby massage and baby yoga sessions on a Tuesday morning.
BABY & KIDS YOGA QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
In addition to being able to teach developmental yoga through her massage training, Kathryn has specifically qualified as a Baby Yoga teacher and gained her higher Diploma in baby yoga in 2002, under Barbira Freedman the founder of Birthlight, Cambridge.
She is also qualified in level 1 and level 2 of the Radiant Child Yoga Programme with Shakta Kaur Khalsa in 2001 and has been introducing children’s yoga, through story and song into local primary schools.
Kathryn runs the baby yoga classes for The Westgate centre in Chichester. She also enjoys taking baby yoga to festivals in the summer months.
MASSAGE IN SCHOOLS QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
In 2000, Kathryn became a qualified Massage in Schools Instructor, being fortunate to train with the founders of this international programme, Mia Elmsater and Sylvie Hytue.
For 6 years she has been implementing this pioneering and effective programme into primary schools, nurseries, special schools and even brownie packs around the country.
In 2007 she became a Massage in Schools Trainer, one of only 22 in the world and now trains teachers and other therapists to Instructor level.
MUSIC EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Kathryn is a qualified teacher and for 12 years taught music, dance and drama to children with severe and profound learning disabilities.
She has been running popular Music Box classes for babies and pre school children since 1989, has become an early years music specialist, offering training and inservice days to schools and nurseries.
Her main instruments are the guitar, piano and voice but she is currently getting to grips with the accordion!
